THE POWER OF CHOICE

 The Power Of Choice

SOWLE - Christian Life and business coach

One of the greatest gifts from God is free will. When God put Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, He told them they could eat fruit from any tree except that of knowledge of good and evil.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may eat freely; but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die." Genesis 2:17.

God gave them clear consequences.

This is the same with us today. When we realize we have power to choose good or bad, then that sets us free. The awakening of that truth in us is very powerful because knowing that, we will  not allow circumstances to dictate us. We can choose to do wrong, but let us never forget that in the end, there are consequences that follow. The bad things seem enticing but the repercussions are usually out of proportion to the wrong done.

To the woman He said, "I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, in pain you will bring forth children; yet your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you." Then to Adam He said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat from it', cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you will eat of it all the days of your life." Genesis 3:16-17.

God knows everything, and that is why He tells us to stay away from evil and to do good. He knows the enemy well. He knows the tricks of the enemy. The devil will tell us everything we need to hear, he will deceive us that God is not who He says He is, he will lie to us that God does not mean what He says and that He means something else.

The serpent said to the woman, "For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:5.

The serpent was the most crafty animal. The devil knew that the serpent would convince Eve. Eve knew exactly what God had said, but when the serpent approached her, she started re-thinking everything. That is what the devil does. He wants us to start rationalizing what God says. We start thinking, maybe God did not mean it!

The surprising thing is that as crafty as the serpent was, he was cursed by God the most; he received the greatest punishment.

And the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed are you more than all cattle, more than every beast in the field; on your belly shall you go and dust shall you eat all the days of your life." Genesis 3:14.

This is why we should watch out not to lead others astray. When we lead others astray, we are held responsible for our actions. Then when things start going wrong in our lives, we start wondering, where is God?

God will not bless sin. Sin separates us from God.

We know that God does not listen to sinners, but He does listen to the one who worships Him and does His will. John 9:31.

Sin is costly.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23.

Yet God is merciful. He sets us free from sin through Jesus Christ. God wants us to turn away from sin and believe in Him.

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13.

We choose daily to walk with God. It requires sacrifice and dying to self. It is a daily choice. But those who taste God know that He indeed is good.

O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Psalms 34:8.

God's way is the only way that leads to eternal life. The devil has nothing to offer; his ways lead to pain and regret.

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8.

God is always good. He tells us the right path to follow. He wants to bless us. He gives us more than we can ever ask or imagine.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praise worth - think on these things. Philippians 4:8.

Blessings.

FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness Then Jesus said, Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. And they divided up His garments by casting lots. Luke 23:24. Forgiveness! Such a simple word but a difficult action to execute. Why do we find it difficult to forgive others? Because we cannot do it by our own strength, we need God. Our flesh/ carnal nature desires to hurt those who hurt us. So watch yourselves. If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times comes back to you saying 'I repent' you must forgive them. Luke 17:3-4. We are instructed to forgive just as the Lord has forgiven us. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13. We have been forgiven freely and therefore we are to extend the same to those who hurt us. Forgiveness frees us and restores our...

GOD HATES SIN

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil Sin is sin, and God hates sin; choose to stay away from sin. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. "If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death. 1 John 5:16-17. Sin is deadly and has severe consequences. Thank God that through Jesus Christ, we have been set free from the law of sin and death. GUARD YOUR HEART

Guard your heart Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flows the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23. The Bible tells us to guard our hearts. Our Creator knows us and He gave us this instruction with full knowledge of the condition of human heart. This requires us to be sober because the world is full of chaos. Guarding our hearts is very important because it affects the trajectory of our lives. The human mind is the most deceitful of all things. It is incurable. No one can understand how deceitful it is. Jeremiah 17:9. One wrong turn can lead to a ripple effect that can end in destruction. The enemy feeds our minds with all sorts of lies; that we have sinned too much and cannot be forgiven, that we cannot make it. His aim is to throw us into confusion and for us to start doubting the Word of God. When we listen to the voices of other people, we will realize that everybody has an opinion about every subject, and the opinions are as diverse as there a...
