THE POWER OF BEING

Become who God created you to be We are meant to be; being ourselves in the true and best version and in a God-honoring way. We have become a copying society; we copy other people's way of talking, way of walking, way of dressing, and way of life. Most of us want to be like 'others'; those that seem to have a better life, those that seem to talk better, dress better; those that seem to have a more interesting and perfect life. We want to be like 'them'. It always seems enticing, the grass seems greener with other people. That makes us become discontent in who we are. It is hard to be ourselves and live God-honoring lives when we are busy trying to be other people. God created us unique; we are equal but different. Our lives cannot and will never be the same. Each of us is so different, and with different gifts. Our personalities are different, our outlook on life is different, and our perspectives are different. We are on the journey of life but our paths will alw...

THE POWER OF NO

Say what you mean and mean what you say No is a complete sentence. It does not need to be justified by explanations. It is a powerful word. It is a word that implies we know who we are, what we want, and what we do not want. It comes from a place of strength rather than weakness. It tells the other person that we have heard what they are saying, we have heard what they wanted us to do or say, but we choose not to; we choose not to go ahead with it. Many times we feel pressured to do or say something just to avoid offending the other person. Yet, what we fail to remember is that the moment we do something that we do not want to do, we end up betraying and doing a disservice to ourselves. People will guilt trip us, they will tell us all sorts of things in order to make us do or say what they want. But, we should never forget what we want and what is right and true. Is that what we want to do? Is that good for us? Is that the right thing to do? Saying no does not mean selfishness or...

REJECTION

How to overcome rejection Rejection makes us feel alone; we feel like other people do not like us or do not want to be around us. It is a strong negative emotion of feeling unwanted, feeling like we are not understood, like the odd ones out, like others are better than us, like we are below others. Rejection makes us feel weird, unappreciated, criticized, and judged; it makes us feel as if nothing we do or say is ever good enough; it makes us feel as if we are not good enough or as if we do not matter. When rejected, we feel like outcasts. Rejection is defined as, "being excluded; cast off." It is a strong emotion, and when it happens, we start to feel unworthy. When under rejection, we may feel judged by others, talked about by others, avoided by people, laughed at, mistreated, abused - whether verbally, emotionally, physically, or financially; we may be taken advantage of and lied to. We may feel rejected by a school we had applied to, denied a certain job, secluded by fa...

AUTHENTICITY

Be Authentic Authenticity means being completely ourselves, in the best way possible. The world is full of distractions and if we are not careful it is easy to be led astray. All of us have values which we stand by. Yet, many times we do not follow them. We find ourselves going further and further away from the true, best versions of ourselves. We find ourselves looking for validation from others. We do and say things in an effort to fit in. We do not want to be disliked. We want people to praise us. We look for attention whether consciously or not. We find ourselves boasting, being prideful, being arrogant. At times, we hurt people in an attempt to 'get back' at them. But do we ever count the cost? Why do we try to hurt and destroy each other? Do we ever consider the pain we inflict on others? We forget what we do to others does indeed come back to us. The Bible tells us that whatever we wish others would do to us, we should also do to them. With our words and actions we lea...

WHERE IS OUR WORTH FOUND?

Where is our worth found? How do we view ourselves? Esteem can range from low to high. It is affected by many things such as our upbringing, what we tell ourselves about ourselves, criticisms from other people, events that have happened in our lives and in our surroundings, what other people say about us - whether they tell it to us or to other people; the list can go on and on. Whether consciously or subconsciously, we internalize so many things, and that starts affecting us, whether positively or negatively. Most of the time we do things without considering the consequences. We do not stop to ask how that affects other people. The world is full of chaos, and the outward chaos when internalized turns into inward chaos. When the esteem of a person is low, usually that person considers other people better. We have a tendency to put other people above ourselves in an unhealthy way. We admire their lifestyle, their privileged background, their looks, their family, their achievem...

THE COMPARISON TRAP

The Comparison Trap Human beings are always comparing themselves to each other. This leads to a lot of competition. But what motivates us to do this? Comparison leads to dissatisfaction, which leads to unhealthy choices and lifestyle. We do what the others are doing and fail to follow our path; we get distracted. We are exposed to lifestyle related diseases and mental illnesses. Our lives are stress filled. We are prone to envy; we want to have what the other people have. Comparison and dissatisfaction with our own lives is one of the things that leads to crimes. There is a lot of jealousy, hate, malice, and many other vices. Yet, God created us unique, each one of us for a specific purpose. So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female. Genesis 1:27. The Bible says the devil was cast out from heaven, he was in competition with God; he wanted to be in the place of God. And war broke out in heaven; Michael...

IDENTITY

Identity If we do not know our identity, then we will live our lives trying to please human beings. Knowing our identity means knowing our position in Christ. When we know who we are, we will not allow others to abuse, mistreat, or misuse us; we stop being people pleasers. Knowing who we are involves knowing our innate worth in God. Without knowing God and His love, we cannot love others. What we call loving others is validation if we do not do it out of God's love. We give to others until we become deficient, then expect others to give back in the same giving measure as we did towards them, in an effort to be validated or liked. When people do not do as we had expected, then we get frustrated. Many people are happy to receive, but giving back is hard. Therefore when we give so much expecting others to fill us in return, we run into self destruction. When we rely on people to fill voids within us, many start taking advantage, they start mistreating us and using us for their gain....
