GUARD YOUR HEART

 Guard your heart

SOWLE - Christian Life and Business Coach

Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flows the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23.

The Bible tells us to guard our hearts. Our Creator knows us and He gave us this instruction with full knowledge of the condition of human heart. This requires us to be sober because the world is full of chaos. Guarding our hearts is very important because it affects the trajectory of our lives.

The human mind is the most deceitful of all things. It is incurable. No one can understand how deceitful it is. Jeremiah 17:9.

One wrong turn can lead to a ripple effect that can end in destruction.

The enemy feeds our minds with all sorts of lies; that we have sinned too much and cannot be forgiven, that we cannot make it. His aim is to throw us into confusion and for us to start doubting the Word of God.

When we listen to the voices of other people, we will realize that everybody has an opinion about every subject, and the opinions are as diverse as there are people. Some people will lie to your face and later deny everything. That is why we need wisdom. Wisdom comes from God and it helps us discern through the power of the Holy Spirit.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5.

God is very generous and with time we realize that we do not receive because we do not ask. He tells us to ask and we will receive, in accordance to God's will. That is God's promise.

In the world today people lie their way into anything and everything. If we do not stop first and seek God, we will find ourselves immersed in a deep hole and cycle of deceit. The enemy knows the mind too well. That is why he presents to us 'near truths'; everything is so close to the truth and many people end up falling. However, if we stop to listen to the Holy Spirit, we will hear Him minister to us and guide us into all truth. He speaks to us, we only need to stop and listen. However, in this busy world most people do not put that important time aside. We go with the crowd, and the enemy takes advantage of that; he comes in full swing.

If we know the attributes of God, then there is no mistaking His voice in the midst of the diverse voices. God is everything good. He is love, peace, joy, gentleness, kindness. He does not force Himself on us, just like a gentleman. He does not cause regret. He is pure. With and in Him is perfect peace.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. James 3:17.

In God there is no confusion. If something does not feel right or peaceful, most of the time it is not the right thing. Stop. Seek God.

When we accept Christ, He gives us a new heart and spirit. He transforms our way of thinking. By following God's Word, we align our will with His will. God's will becomes our will.

And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we already possess what we asked of Him. 1 John 5:4.

We guard our hearts against the lies of the enemy. We feed our mind with the truth of God's Word. Where there was confusion we gain clarity. One of the signs that something is from God is complete peace, something that is in accordance to His Word.

Your precepts give me discernment. Therefore i hate all deceitful actions. Your Word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illuminate my path. I have vowed and solemnly sworn to keep your just regulations. Psalms 119:104-106.

God's Word is Truth. It never fails. When tested and tried through fire it remains standing.

When we are aligned with God, we gain access to heavenly treasures. God wills to direct us, but He does not force Himself on us. He wants us to be willing and open to Him. He does not pressurize us. He is gentle, ever present.

The Lord is my shepherd; i have all that i need. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along the right paths bringing honor to His name. Even when i walk through the darkest valley, i will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Psalm 23:1-4.

God wants to help us in every circumstance.

Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke up upon you and learn from Me; for I Am gentle and humble in the heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29.

God's way appears narrow and restrictive, but it is the only way to complete freedom. The enemy usually opens a wide and easy path, but the prize to pay is destruction of our souls if we follow him.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only few find it. Matthew 7:13.

God is good, He is love, He is peace, He is light. May we rest in these truths.

Blessings.

COUNT THE COST

Count The Cost Which of you, wishing to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost to see if he has the resources to complete it? Luke 14:28. Following Jesus Christ will cost us. We have to be willing to leave everything for the sake of the Gospel. We have to come to a place whereby we will choose God no matter how tempting the other options might be. Give God your all. It is worth it following Christ. What it costs to live for God is nothing compared to the reward that comes for those who remain faithful until the very end. We have to be willing to die to self, to say no to carnal fleshly desires, and reject the ways of the world. The choices we make have consequences; let us choose well. We are advised to always count the cost. Before doing or saying anything, we should first stop and reconsider the effect such will have on us and on others. Most times we do and say things, then just get on with our lives without considering the effect our actions or words...

IDENTITY

Identity If we do not know our identity, then we will live our lives trying to please human beings. Knowing our identity means knowing our position in Christ. When we know who we are, we will not allow others to abuse, mistreat, or misuse us; we stop being people pleasers. Knowing who we are involves knowing our innate worth in God. Without knowing God and His love, we cannot love others. What we call loving others is validation if we do not do it out of God's love. We give to others until we become deficient, then expect others to give back in the same giving measure as we did towards them, in an effort to be validated or liked. When people do not do as we had expected, then we get frustrated. Many people are happy to receive, but giving back is hard. Therefore when we give so much expecting others to fill us in return, we run into self destruction. When we rely on people to fill voids within us, many start taking advantage, they start mistreating us and using us for their gain....

THE POWER OF CHOICE

The Power Of Choice One of the greatest gifts from God is free will. When God put Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, He told them they could eat fruit from any tree except that of knowledge of good and evil. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may eat freely; but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die." Genesis 2:17. God gave them clear consequences. This is the same with us today. When we realize we have power to choose good or bad, then that sets us free. The awakening of that truth in us is very powerful because knowing that, we will  not allow circumstances to dictate us. We can choose to do wrong, but let us never forget that in the end, there are consequences that follow. The bad things seem enticing but the repercussions are usually out of proportion to the wrong done. To the woman He said, "I will greatly multiply your pain in ch...
